What's our story?

What do you get when you put three women over 50 in a room with no windows? A womb with a view!
Now, it isn't exactly true that we found ourselves in a room with no windows but it is true that we were well over 50 years old when we met. Yolanda was presenting a drumming workshop in the yoga studio where Dee had been teaching. Sharon and Dee attended Yolanda's workshop and the rest is juicy history.  It was one of those all too rare times in life when we three just "clicked."  We got together post workshop and found that we inspired each other to look into the windows of our souls. We discovered a shared wisdom that only comes from decades of experience as women in what our mothers used to call "a man's world."  While women have made great strides in recent decades and no longer think of the world as a men's club, of sorts, we found ourselves admitting that we still struggled with certain biases. We discussed our difficulties regarding the culturally accepted idea of physical beauty. We revealed to each other that aging, especially as women, felt somehow unacceptable.  We laughed out loud at shared foibles and we cheered for one another's successes. We found a shared zest for the juiciness of life and a mutual respect for our individual stories. It wasn't long before we declared ourselves sisters and began to dream of a time when our sisterhood would expand. We knew that our shared challenges  and joys were not unique to us. We knew that women of all ages in our culture struggled with similar biases and celebrated similar triumphs. And so, we chose to invite others into the sisterhood of Juicy Wise Women in support of the reality that women improve with age. Women of every age deserve to step into their power, embrace their juiciness and share their wisdom. We want to lead the way!
